Can mobile partitions in hotels really help a lot?

2025-08-15

A while back, I was chatting with Sister Li, who runs a hotel. She sighed and said that after more than ten years in this business, the most troublesome thing is still the venue.

Think about it, the hotel is only so big, but guests' needs are all different. Once, a group came to her hotel and said they needed three small meeting rooms, each for 15 people. But she only had one big meeting room that could hold 50 people. The walls were all fixed, couldn't be taken down or moved. In the end, she had to let the three small groups squeeze into one room, separated by screens. They could hear each other talking, and the guests clearly looked unhappy. They never came back after that.

Another time, there was a wedding banquet. The couple wanted to divide the hall into a ceremony area, a dining area, and a rest area. The partitions in her hall were fixed and couldn't be removed, so she had to let them make do. As a result, the couple had many relatives, and the rest area was so crowded that no one could turn around. The couple looked embarrassed, and later they even complained online, which affected a lot of business.

"If only there was something that could split a big space into small ones when needed, and merge them when wanted. That would be great."

Coincidentally, later she heard from a colleague about mobile partitions. She decided to try and installed a set.

Guess what? I went to her hotel last week. It happened that a company was having a team building. A big meeting room was divided into two small ones. One side was playing games, the other was having a small meeting. The partition in the middle was pulled tight, and no sound could pass through. Sister Li said that the partition can be moved by pushing, and closed by pulling. When not in use, it can be pushed to the wall, taking up no space at all.

What's more amazing is the wedding banquet. Now her hall can be divided freely. A while ago, a couple even separated four areas: the ceremony area with a red carpet, the dining area divided into two tables for elders and three tables for young people, and a small corner specially for cakes and gifts. The guests all said it was much more comfortable than before.

Sister Li calculated for me. Before, a big venue could receive at most 1 order a day. Now, after division, it can receive 3 orders. The extra money earned in a month is more than the money spent on installing the partitions. And this thing doesn't require changing the original decoration. The workers finished installing it in two days, without delaying business at all.

She said that now guests also praise it. Sometimes a group of tourists comes suddenly, and a space in the lobby can be temporarily separated to put luggage. The guests don't have to stand outside and wait. They all say the hotel looks flexible and considerate.
